In our video we will be using natural lighting to show the natural and down to earth feeling the artist is trying to show off and send as a representation of her to the audience which will help them warm to her and begin to like the way she goes about with her music style and how she acts herself, it also portrays her honesty and how she has nothing to hide from her audience, it will be used during the scenes in which she is looking back and re living her memories, however, it cannot be used for inside scenes as it will be too dark for the camera to pick up and will make it 'grainy' and ruin the camera shot, this shot follows conventional as it represents the artist as a good, honest person and makes the audience enjoy her and respect her as an artist.

Finally is key lighting, this will be used in scenes such as the bonfire scene at the beginning and end as the fire would be the key lighting, this is conventional to the indie genre as it is created by a fire (in ours) which represents her burning love and passion for her boyfriend, also the key lighting helps the audience only focus on what they can see as the light can only reach a certain radius which keeps their attention on the artist, helping them memorise the artists face and makes them more likely to be successful, this represents the artist as having a burning passion/love, which only reaches those close to her (represented by the light only reaching a certain distance), this represents how caring and compassionate she is, but also how scared she is of hurt and tries to protect herself. This use of lighting is common within the indie genre as it helps show the audience the artists true feelings and that they are just as afraid as everyone else and are no better than an everyday person. allowing the audience to relate to the artist and create a close bond.

Finally the colour red will be used in scenes where there is love between the artist and her boyfriend, but danger to their relationship due to the third boy that our artist flirts with, this will be used in scenes such as the field and pub (scenes in which the couple are loving toward each other until the second boy comes in and out artist begins to flirt with him, which annoys the boyfriend, this is conventional as it shows the truth about relationship and why they break up and complicated at times, this is why the audience can relate to her and understand her point of view, this represents the artist as a real, everyday person and down to earth, representing her as being no different to everyone else and being just as vulnerable as they understand how she feels and emphasise with her and therefore bond with her and understand her better. This is conventional as the artist needs to be related to by their audience, the use of red is common due to the connotation of love and anger, showing the theme of the song and allowing the audience to relate to the artists feelings.
In conclusion, the use of colours and lighting will be essential in the representation of the artist, the use of these will allow the audience to see her true emotions and truly engage into the music video and in turn, relate to the artist and create a close bond with her, helping the longevity of the artists career which is essential to success.
You have provided a very basic analysis of the lighting and colours chosen, identifying the different examples that ill be used within your video, and explaining what they create to an extent, but not exploring the artist's representation in enough depth, or referring back to genre conventions.
ReplyDeleteYou need to:
1) Really think about how the artist is represented in different ways through each of the colours and lighting chosen
2) Think how each one will appeal to the audience, and build a relationship with the artist, or allow them to see her in a different way
3) Link examples back to generic conventions and how they are followed etc. and why
4) Elaborate on your green and red colour examples
5) Conclusion
You have considered the TA relationship more as well as linking examples back to conventions of the genre and including a brief conclusion making this a sound post overall
